As leaders and practitioners, we are often confronted with dealing with today’s issues while, more importantly, planning for the issues of tomorrow. This year’s conference theme is centred on this very duality. It is a call to action to create a future that embodies our resilience as a Caribbean people.

Our vision for this conference in Jamaica is for it to be a meeting of the minds that will answer this call to action. To support this goal, we have developed a programme that is punctuated with topics which are not just timely but are also of critical importance to our region – building climate resilience; providing affordable insurance programs for our populations that have high incidences of non-communicable diseases; the adoption of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence; and managing demographic shifts due to vaccination, migration, infertility and low birth rates. However, this is merely a necessary condition for achieving our vision.

What is more important is having the right people involved and engaged at the conference. In recognition of Jamaica’s national motto – “Out of Many One People” – we are therefore striving to attract a diverse conference delegation of not just actuaries, but also actuarial adjacent professionals, industry leaders, legislators, regulators and other interested individuals at the conference.
